There are no free calls or free SMS’ from Exetel's Vodafone supplied mobile services (which are no longer available to order) to Exetel Optus supplied mobile services and vice-versa.



Terms For Capped Plans

  • $20.00 Activation and SIM Card Postage

  • $0.25 per SMS to all Australian mobile numbers
  • $0.40 per SMS to International mobile numbers
  • $0.275 per MB excess data rate
  • $0.385 flagfall on calls within Australia
  • $0.40 flagfall on International calls
  • $0.99 per minute call rate
  • Billing per 30 seconds
  • Access to the data service is not possible when global roaming
  • Early termination is calculated as number of months left on the plan multiplied by the monthly plan price

Capped Plan Inclusions

  • Standard calls to all Australian landlines, VoIP services and mobiles
  • Voicemail deposit is free
  • Voicemail retrieval is included at the standard call rate on the X12, X20 and X35 plans. Voicemail retrieval is unlimited on the X55, X70 and X85 plan
  • Standard SMS to all Australian and international mobiles
  • Standard MMS to all Australian and international mobiles on the X12, X20, X35 and X55 plans
  • 13/1300/1800 calls are included in the ‘Call, SMS and MMS included value’ for the X35, X55, X70 and X85 plans
  • Data charges are included when the configured APN is ‘INTERNET’ or ‘OPTUSWAP’ or ‘YesINTERNET’ (for iPhones)
  • Exetel to Exetel calls only include calls from an Exetel Optus supplied cap plan to another Exetel Optus supplied mobile service
  • Calls from Exetel Optus supplied cap plans to other Exetel landlines or VoIP services are included in the Call & SMS Value only

Capped Plan Exclusions

  • All calls to international landline, international VoIP services and international mobile numbers
  • All global and domestic roaming calls and SMS
  • All special call types such as 13,1300, 1800 on the X12 and X20 plans
  • All wake up calls, reminder calls, call return function
  • All Premium SMS
  • All MMS on the X70 and X85 plans
  • All Other Charges and any other call types not in the above Inclusions
  • All national and global roaming data including accessing the social networking sites when roaming
  • Data charges are excluded and excessively charged ($1.43 per MB) when the configured APN is anything other than what is stipulated in the Plan Inclusions above

New to an Exetel mobile service?

You can activate a new service or port your existing mobile service to Exetel.

If you are new to an Exetel mobile service but an existing Exetel customer you can order and provision the mobile service yourself. It’s a simple 3 step process.

3 Step Ordering and Provisioning Process

  1. Order the service by logging in to your Exetel members facility
  2. Wait to receive the SIM, sent via post (takes about 3 working days)
  3. When the SIM is received, log in again to your Exetel members facility and provision your service, by either porting or activating a new service. (you are sent detailed instructions on how to do this in your welcome letter, accompanying the SIM)

Billing period and Bill Issue Date

The billing period is from the 1st to last of the calendar month.

The Per minute plans offered by Exetel are post-paid, meaning that you are billed for your calls monthly in arrears.

The Capped plans offered by Exetel are paid in advance, meaning that you are billed the monthly Cap amount in advance and prior to making calls. Any excess call charges are billed on the next bill, in arrears.

Your mobile charges will appear on a separate bill if that is the only service you have with Exetel or on your ADSL bill, in a separate section, if you have an ADSL service also with Exetel.

The bill will not appear on the user area of the Exetel web site until soon after the 1st of each month.

The bill issue date is on or soon after the 1st of the month. Exetel will not send you a paper bill. Your monthly bill is displayed on a secure area of the Exetel web site and you can view or print it from there. Your last 12 months mobile bills are displayed in this area.

Contract or No Contract?

No contract periods apply to the Exetel residential mobile service plans.

Activation/Delivery Time

receive your new Mobile Sim is approximately 3 working days. If you have ordered a mobile handset hardware from Exetel that will be shipped separately to the address nominated by you within 5 working days.

What is Exetel MoIP?

Exetel has developed an easy to use mini-app that can be loaded on to any data capable mobile telephone hand set running the Symbian operating system (ie not Android or iPhone). This mini-app allows a user to use MoIP (Mobile Calls Over IP) to make and receive mobile telephone voice calls at the lowest possible rates. The difference in call quality from most handsets in any place with a good mobile data signal is either minute or nonexistent. All calls between MoIP App handsets are free of charge. Additionally a user is able to nominate an Exetel VoIP landline number to call at no cost.

Premium SMS and MMS Barring

Regulations regarding the ability for customers to request the barring of premium SMS and MMS services came into effect from 1 July 2010.
Customers can refer to The Telecommunications Service Provider (Mobile Premium Services) Determination 2010, made by The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA)
As a provider of mobile services, Exetel is responsible to comply with the determination.
Information concerning the Telecommunications Service Provider (Mobile Premium Services) Determination can be found on the ACMA website.

As an Exetel customer, if you would like Premium SMS and MMS services barred, please email voice@exetel.com.au to request this.
